Jonesboro Woman Accused of Throwing Scalding Liquid, Beating Victim

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman is accused of throwing hot liquid into another woman’s face and beating her during an altercation last month.

Keahja Elise Thompson, 25, of Jonesboro, faces a charge of second-degree battery. Craighead County District Court set her bail at $75,000. Judge David Boling noted during the hearing that Thompson pleaded guilty in March 2025 to a charge of terroristic threatening.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers with the Jonesboro Police Department were dispatched to NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital’s emergency room on Aug. 23, where they found the alleged victim with severe swelling to her eyes and in significant pain.

The victim told police the incident happened about two hours earlier at a gathering at Thompson’s apartment at Garden Manor. A verbal altercation over dancing escalated when Thompson allegedly threw the contents of a measuring cup into the victim’s face, which she described as very hot water. The victim said she was immediately blinded and then struck several times until bystanders intervened.

A witness confirmed to officers that Thompson threw the liquid onto the victim. Photographs of the victim’s injuries showed swelling and blistering to both eyes.

Police said the victim later confirmed Thompson’s identity using a Facebook profile photograph. Investigators said the physical evidence and witness statements supported the victim’s account.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
