Maynard to Host 45th Annual Pioneer Days Celebration

MAYNARD, Ark. — The city of Maynard is preparing to celebrate its 45th annual Pioneer Days, a three-day community festival filled with food, music, contests, and family-friendly activities.

The annual Maynard Pioneer Days event is held every September and includes gospel, country, and bluegrass music; Maynard School class reunions; a parade; and other events. In recent years, between 5,000 and 8,000 people have attended the Pioneer Days Craft Fair and Festival.

The 2025 celebration kicks off Thursday, Sept. 18, with “School Night” beginning at 5 p.m.

Friday Events

On Friday, Sept. 19, festivities start at 5 p.m. with a choice of chicken and dumplings or hamburger plates. That evening will also feature the announcement of the Pioneer Prince and Princess winners, along with a baked goods contest and auction.

Live music by Finley Watkins is scheduled for 7 p.m. A $300 grand prize will be awarded to the winning float in the parade.

Saturday Events

The festival continues Saturday, Sept. 20, beginning with a parade at 10 a.m. that will end at the park. Following the parade, the Posting of Colors and political speakers will take place on the main stage.

Throughout the day, visitors can tour the Pioneer Cabin and Museum, watch blacksmithing demonstrations, and enjoy craft and food vendors. Attractions will also include a bounce house and petting zoo for children.

Live music will be performed by Dixon Street on the main stage. Contests for the oldest and youngest person present, as well as the farthest traveled, will also be held. Parade and contest winners will be announced at 12:30 p.m.

A turkey shoot is scheduled for 1 p.m. in the field behind the church.
