Man Accused of Breaking Into Ex-Wife’s Home, Assaulting Her in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. — A man has been arrested after police say he forced his way into his ex-wife’s home, assaulted her, and later tried to take her vehicle.

Rickey Lee Metcalf, 55, is accused of aggravated residential burglary, a Class Y felony, and third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor. On August 20, Judge David Boling set his bail at $35,000 cash or surety.

The probable cause affidavit states that on August 16, JPD was dispatched to a disturbance on Matthews Avenue. The alleged victim reported her ex-husband had entered her residence without permission and physically assaulted her.

“The victim stated she was at her residence with a friend when she received a phone call from Rickey Metcalf, which she did not answer,” the affidavit says. “A short time later, the doorbell rang, and Rickey Metcalf entered the home without consent.”

The affidavit alleges Metcalf was yelling and cursing at the victim before turning his aggression to the victim’s friend, challenging him to a fight. The defendant is then accused of attempting to take the victim’s vehicle keys, saying he was going to take her vehicle. When the victim went to intervene, Metcalf allegedly pushed her and raised his hand in a threatening manner as if to strike her. He then left the residence.

However, the affidavit states that he returned to the scene with his sister, adding that he blocked the victim’s vehicle as they attempted to leave.

Police say Metcalf reached into the victim’s vehicle, grabbed the spare set of keys, and attempted to pull the victim from the vehicle, injuring her left arm and causing visible bruising. After obtaining the spare key, he again left.

The victim told police Metcalf did not have permission to enter her residence and that the vehicle in question had been awarded to her in the divorce. Divorce records filed this summer appear to verify this.

The Brookland Police Department located and arrested Metcalf in connection with the incident.

His next court date is Sept. 30, 2025, according to the affidavit.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
