Woman Faces First-Degree Battery Charge After Shooting on Greensboro Road

JONESBORO, Ark. — A shooting incident with injury was reported Thursday night in Jonesboro. Now, a woman is facing a first-degree battery charge.

At about 8:16 PM on August 7, JPD responded to the 1800 block of Greensboro Road about a shooting, according to the probable cause affidavit released the next day. The alleged victim was transported to an area hospital with wounds made by gunshots to her right hand and right leg.

The victim told detectives that Enizha Henry and others were physically fighting at the location when Henry produced a handgun. The victim said Henry pointed the gun at her, and the victim grabbed the muzzle of the weapon. The victim stated the gun went off, causing the injuries she sustained.

Detectives spoke with two separate independent witnesses who said that Henry was the person who shot the victim. The affidavit says one victim provided photos of Henry holding a handgun amongst the crowd.

Enizha Deshay Henry, 19, of Jonesboro, was arrested for first-degree battery with the purpose of causing serious injury with a deadly weapon, a Class B felony punishable by 5 to 20 years in prison.

On Aug. 8, Judge Tommy Fowler set bail at $75,000 cash or surety with orders for a GPS ankle monitor, no contact with the victim, and no weapons.

Her next court date is Sept. 30.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
