Suspect Accused of Striking Victim With Keys, Throwing Knife in Paragould

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A suspect faces two felony charges after police said video corroborated allegations that she struck a victim with keys, threatened to kill him and threw a knife at him during an altercation.

Summer Knuckles faces one count each of aggravated assault on a family or household member and first-degree terroristic threatening, both Class D felonies. She also faces third-degree domestic battering, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers responded Aug. 24 to an assault report on Theil Road. Knuckles told officers she had been arguing with the victim and alleged that he struck her twice with a chair. She also admitted threatening to kill him, the affidavit states.

The victim told officers the argument escalated when Knuckles struck him twice in the face with a set of keys. He said he pushed Knuckles down while attempting to take the keys and then threw her phone across the room after grabbing what he thought were the keys.

The victim alleged that Knuckles then threatened to kill him and ran from the room. When he turned around, Knuckles was allegedly running back into the room with a knife. The victim said he swung a chair at her twice as she threw the knife at him.

Police reviewed video of the incident and said it corroborated the victim’s account.

Knuckles was taken to the police department for an interview. Police said she admitted striking the victim twice with the keys before requesting an attorney.

District Judge Curtis Hitt found probable cause and set bond at $125,000 surety. If released, Knuckles may not contact the victim, witnesses or others involved in the case and may not possess weapons.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
