Jonesboro Man Accused of Fleeing Scene After Crash Causes Over $10K in Damage

JONESBORO, Ark. — A man is facing a felony charge after police say he left the scene of a crash that caused more than $10,000 in damage to a residence.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Jonesboro police responded to a reported accident on June 7, 2025, on Thorn Street. The victim told officers she arrived home late that night and saw an unfamiliar vehicle pull into her driveway directly behind her. She remained inside her car, waiting for the driver to get out, but instead, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, drove past her, and into her residence.

The driver then left the scene.

Officers later learned that the suspect vehicle’s driver had been picked up by another car. While police were still on scene, the owner of the suspect vehicle arrived and identified the driver as her boyfriend, Antwon Bailey. She told police Bailey had taken the vehicle without her knowledge while she was asleep.

The vehicle’s owner said that after waking and discovering her car missing, she contacted Bailey and told him to return it. When he failed to do so, she used a location service to find it. She drove to Thorn Street and found her vehicle wrecked and Bailey slumped over the steering wheel. She took him home and did not notify the police about the incident.

Bailey did not contact authorities or return to the crash scene, according to the affidavit. The estimated damage to the residence exceeds $10,000.

An arrest warrant was signed on July 8.

Antwon Demorris Bailey, 38, of Jonesboro, was arrested on August 6 and is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage only, greater than $10,000, a Class D felony. His bail was set at $50,000 cash or surety.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
