Class Y Felony: Jonesboro Man Accused of Simultaneous Drug and Gun Possession

JONESBORO, Ark. — A man is facing a Class Y felony charge for the alleged simultaneous possession of marijuana and firearms in Jonesboro.

The probable cause affidavit says that a drug investigation by the 2nd Judicial District Drug Task Force led authorities to information that Christopher Triblett had been involved in the sale of illegal narcotics. On August 1, agents conducted surveillance at the 2400 block of Mary Jane, where Triblett had been observed previously. He left carrying a small plastic bag.

The suspect traveled in a white GMC Yukon to the 200 block of Richmond, where he entered and then exited carrying a white backpack. He left and turned west on Nettleton, where officers reportedly observed him cross the center line. They also knew he had a suspended license, the affidavit said.

During the traffic stop, officers reportedly found a firearm in the center console along with one pound of marijuana in a vacuum-sealed bag in the backpack. They also found $3,458 in cash.

Judge David Boling signed a search warrant for the Richmond address. Inside, agents found another pound of marijuana in a sealed bag. Three more guns were found – an AR-15 rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun, and a .38 special handgun. Ammunition was also located for the guns. Police also reported locating large black/clear plastic bags inside the residence, along with Triblett’s wallet and his ID.

Christopher Triblett, 40, of Jonesboro, faces charges including the most serious, a Class Y felony charge for simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms. It is punishable by 10 to 40 years or life in prison. He also faces felonies for possession and drug paraphernalia, and other charges for driving with a suspended license and driving left of center.

Bail was set at $250,000 cash or surety by Judge Tommy Fowler on Monday, August 4.

His next court date is set for Sept. 30, 2025.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
