Man Accused of Pointing Gun During Road Rage Incident in Paragould

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Corning man is accused of pulling a gun on another driver during a road rage incident that began in Craighead County and ended in Paragould, according to police.

On June 21, 2025, Paragould police were dispatched after receiving a 911 call about a road rage situation in progress, reportedly traveling north on U.S. Highway 49. Dispatchers advised officers that the incident ended at the intersection of Barnhill and Carroll roads, where one driver was allegedly holding the other at gunpoint.

When officers arrived, they observed a man identified as Jeremy Hammock armed with a pistol. Officers said they were able to safely disarm Hammock without further incident.

The victim told police he had been followed by Hammock and that when he confronted him, Hammock pointed the firearm at him. Both individuals were interviewed at the police department.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Hammock made self-incriminating statements during a Mirandized interview. He now faces a felony charge of aggravated assault, a Class D felony.

Hammock’s bail was set at $5,000 cash only. A no-contact order with the victim was issued, along with a condition prohibiting possession of firearms.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
