Paragould Man Accused of Attacking Elderly Great-Grandmother, Stealing Her Vehicle

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man is facing a felony charge after police say he assaulted his elderly great-grandmother and took her vehicle during a domestic disturbance.

Officers were dispatched June 22, 2025, to the 300 block of E. Court Street following a 911 call about a reported assault. When they arrived, they spoke with the victim, an 87-year-old woman, who told officers that her great-grandson attacked her and then left with her vehicle.

Police noted visible injuries to the victim’s forearm, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Officers later located the suspect, identified as Chase Phillips, and brought him to the police department for questioning. During a Mirandized interview, investigators say Phillips made self-incriminating statements.

Phillips is being charged with second-degree domestic battering, a Class C felony. His bail was set at $15,000 cash only. A judge also ordered that he have no contact with the victim, possess no weapons, and wear an ankle monitor if released.

All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
