PARAGOULD, Ark. — Three separate theft investigations in Paragould have resulted in criminal charges this month, according to police affidavits.
In the first case, officers responded around 7:13 p.m. on June 9 to a local business after a report of a vehicle break-in inside a shop. The victim and a witness told police they had seen a woman arrive in a blue Nissan Altima and left the area to avoid a potential confrontation. When they returned about 20 minutes later, they discovered property missing from the victim’s vehicle, which had been parked inside the shop.
Surveillance video from a business across the street reportedly showed the suspect entering and exiting the shop during the timeframe of the theft. Police identified her as Destiny Markum. She now faces charges of breaking or entering, a Class D felony, and misdemeanor theft. Her bail was set at $12,500 cash or surety.
In a separate case, police were dispatched April 27 to a residence on Oakdale Street after a man reported his custom-built 8-foot trailer, weightlifting bench with free weights, and fishing gear stolen. The items were valued at approximately $1,800.
Weeks later, on June 18, officers were called to the intersection of Canal and Rector Road where the victim said he had spotted his missing trailer. Officers recovered the trailer and later found the weightlifting bench at a residence linked to a suspect identified as Tracy Russell.
Russell was interviewed at the police department under Miranda warning and was already in custody on unrelated charges. Investigators said his statements during the interview did not hold up during the investigation. He now faces one count of felony theft by receiving. Bail was set at $10,000 cash or surety.
In the third case, officers were dispatched June 21 to the Walmart on W. Kingshighway regarding a reported shoplifting incident. A store employee told police that a woman was seen selecting merchandise, taking the unpaid items to the customer service desk, and obtaining a fraudulent refund by using an old receipt. The amount refunded was $66.51.
The woman was identified as Holly Foley, who police say had previously been banned from Walmart in December 2023 and had a prior theft conviction in May 2024. Officers arrested Foley on site. During an interview at the police department, she reportedly made self-incriminating statements.
Foley faces charges of commercial burglary and theft, both felonies. Her bail was set at $25,000 cash or surety, and she was issued a lifetime ban from all Walmart locations.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
