JONESBORO, Ark. — A Paragould man has been arrested and charged after investigators said he was distributing child sexual abuse material and communicating with a minor.
According to the Jonesboro Police Department, the Internet Crimes Against Children Division received a tip from the Arkansas State Police’s Internet Crimes Against Children Division Task Force on Dec. 19, 2024. The tip, originating from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, indicated that an account registered to Dakota Peeler had allegedly sent an image containing child sexual abuse material to another account on Nov. 25, 2024.
The associated IP address was traced to Paragould Municipal Utilities, which confirmed it was linked to Peeler, police said.
On May 21, the Jonesboro Police Department and Paragould Police Department executed a search warrant and arrest warrant for Peeler. During questioning, Peeler admitted to viewing and distributing child sexual abuse material and to communicating with a juvenile female through text messages, investigators said.
A search of Peeler’s cell phone reportedly uncovered several images of child sexual abuse material and evidence of communication with a 13-year-old female.
Peeler was taken before Judge Dan Stidham, who set his bond at $250,000 and scheduled a court date for June 27, 2025. The judge also ordered that Peeler not possess any internet-capable devices and have no contact with any victims, witnesses, or minors. A public defender was appointed.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
