JONESBORO, Ark. — A man is accused of violating a protection order, attacking his ex-girlfriend, and threatening to kill her earlier this month in Jonesboro.
The probable cause affidavit states that on May 5, the alleged victim came to JPD to file a report. She said that day, her ex-boyfriend, Christopher Ball, assaulted her. At about 8:15 PM, the victim said she was at a business on North Church when her daughter noticed that Ball pulled up behind them. The victim has an active protection order against Ball.
The victim said Ball approached her vehicle and attempted to open the door where the daughter was located, but could not get in. Ball went to her side of the vehicle and began pulling on the door handle, causing it to break off. Ball then rips open the door, causing substantial damage to the hinge and panel.
From there, the victim alleged that Ball dragged her out of the vehicle and began punching and kicking her, causing minor injuries. Ball then reportedly threatened to shoot her vehicle up with her child in it.
A witness on the scene confronted Ball and intervened, which led to an argument. The witness was interviewed by a detective and corroborated the victim’s story. The witness also said Ball threatened to kill them.
Christopher Lamar Ball, 36, of Jonesboro, was arrested on May 26. He faces charges including first-degree terroristic threatening, first-degree criminal mischief, and violation of a protection order, all Class D felonies. He also faces misdemeanors for third-degree battery and third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.
On May 27, Judge Barbara Halsey set bail at $75,000 cash or surety. The defendant is next due in court on July 31.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
