PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man is accused of causing extensive property damage while driving intoxicated, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Paragould Police Department.
On May 18, officers were dispatched to several addresses between Kennedy Street and Ada Street after receiving multiple reports of damaged mailboxes, electrical boxes and road signs. According to police, surveillance footage from the area showed a black Chevrolet Silverado—an early- to mid-2000s model—intentionally hitting property.
Officers later located the suspected truck at a residence on Ava Lane. A piece of a mailbox was still lodged in the vehicle’s front end, and officers reported finding several open alcohol containers in and around the truck.
Police identified the vehicle’s owner as Elijah Conner, who they said smelled of alcohol and matched the description and clothing of the person seen in the security videos. Conner was taken into custody without incident, police said.
He is accused of first-degree criminal mischief, a Class D felony. Judge Dan Stidham set his bail at $10,000 in any form and ordered that Conner wear an ankle monitor and have no contact with the victims.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
