JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect accused of shooting out multiple windows at a church now faces a felony charge for his alleged actions.
On Jan. 27, Jonesboro officers responded to Stone Ridge Church of Christ, 514 N. Airport Road, about property damage. Surveillance cameras caught a suspect walking north on Airport Road, walking into the parking lot, and shooting out multiple windows. No shell casings were found and due to no recoil, officers determined the gun to be an air pistol.
Police noted it was discovered that Will Murphy is known to have air pistols, and resides at the 1900 block of Murray Creek Drive, which is the direction that the subject on the video was seen walking from. Officers made contact with Murphy, who is on active probation. Police searched him and found multiple knives and two Glock air pistols.
Murphy was taken to JPD for a formal interview. After being advised of his Miranda rights, the probable cause affidavit states he said he shot the windows of the church while walking down the road with the air pistols that were discovered on his person.
William Edmund Murphy, 43, was arrested for First-Degree Criminal Mischief, Property Valued Over $1,000 but Less Than $5,000. Jail records also show he is being held on a misdemeanor failure to appear. Bail was set at $25,000 cash or surety by Judge David Boling.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
