JONESBORO, Ark. — A man accused of breaking and entering appeared in court for his probable cause hearing Monday in Jonesboro.
Michael Anthony McCoy, 60, of Jonesboro, faces charges including Breaking or Entering/Vehicle, a Class D felony, misdemeanor theft, and misdemeanor possession. Judge David Boling set bail at $25,000 cash or surety on Monday.
The probable cause affidavit says on Feb. 21, JPD officers responded to an address on Parker Road about a vehicle break-in that had already occurred. The complainant noticed his vehicle was broken into and his work tool bag and work tablet were stolen. He then noticed foottracks in the snow leading toward Hijinx.
Officers contacted an employee at Hijinx, who allowed them to view security footage. The footage showed a male walking onto the property the night before. A white minivan was also seen picking him up.
On Feb. 23, the complainant contacted police again after the stolen tablet pinged at an address on Allis Street. While waiting for a search warrant, officers observed a white van leaving the residence. Police also observed the same jacket the suspect was seen wearing in the vehicle.
After a traffic stop, the suspect was unable to provide insurance. Police noted finding marijuana in a pack of cigarettes. Officers located a tool bag with the first name of a victim from another breaking or entering report. Officers also found tools belonging to the victim in this case.
Police executed the search warrant at the address on Allis and located the stolen tablet, afterward.
As of this report, Mccoy is still in Craighead County Detention Center.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
