Lake City Man Accused of Several Felonies Including Trafficking Fentanyl

JONESBORO, Ark. — A man is facing multiple Class Y felony charges after a traffic stop recently in Lake City.

At around 6:11 p.m. on Feb. 14, Craighead County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Walls was patrolling in Lake City when a white GMC truck traveling in front of him was reportedly driving erratically, running off the sides of the road and into oncoming lanes. The vehicle was followed to Highway 18 and stopped due to more traffic violations, the probable cause affidavit said.

The deputy smelled marijuana as he approached the vehicle. Contact was made with the driver. The affidavit says he presented two Arkansas ID cards and seemed confused as to what he was doing, mumbling and showing signs of intoxication. The deputy noticed a gun box partially open in the passenger seat. Due to the erratic behavior, he ordered the driver to exit the vehicle and conducted a frisk search. A knife was found in his pants pocket, and three pill bottles were found in his jacket pockets.

Among the pills identified by the deputy were Adderall, Fentanyl, Amphetamine, Xanax, and others. $2,594 in cash was also seized.

During the search of the vehicle, deputies found a loaded Smith and Wesson firearm with three loaded magazines.
