JONESBORO, Ark. — An Osceola man is accused of aggravated assault, kidnapping, and other charges after a domestic incident reported over the weekend in Craighead County.
The affidavit says on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at the 800 block of Craighead County Road 706. The call was a welfare concern and a possible aggravated assault. Deputies arrived and met with a woman who said she was at the address visiting when she and the suspect had a disagreement.
The woman said she attempted to leave the residence but the defendant closed the door and barricaded it shut. During this time, she alleged he took her phone and wouldn’t allow her to make any phone calls.
During the incident, the defendant allegedly physically assaulted her, slamming her head into a table and at times, held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her, the affidavit said. Deputies photographed the injuries. The defendant was also accused of using a golf club to threaten her.
Deputies made contact with the defendant, Robert Freeman, inside the residence, but the affidavit stated he refused to exit the home, barricading himself in the bathroom. Deputies made entry and after a short struggle, placed the defendant into custody.
Robert Elvincarl Freeman, 35, of Osceola, faces charges including:
- First-Degree Kidnapping, a Class C felony
- Aggravated Assault, a Class D felony
- First-Degree Terroristic Threatening, a Class D felony
- First-Degree Interference with Emergency Communications, a Class A misdemeanor
- Resisting Arrest, a Class C misdemeanor
On Monday, Feb. 10, Judge David Boling set bail at $150,000 cash or surety.
