Bono Man Accused of Felony Battery Against Pregnant Victim

BONO, Ark. — A man is facing a felony battery charge after a disturbing report that alleged violence against a pregnant victim in Craighead County.

Around 8:48 p.m. on Feb. 9, 2025, the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 4100 block of AR 349, to an RV lot, the probable cause affidavit said. A caller who was passing by reported seeing a female with blood running all down her shirt and coming from her nose. The caller said the victim said to keep driving but to call the police.

Deputies arrived and met with the alleged victim, noting the blood on her hands, shirt, jacket, and face. She stated her brother punched her in the mouth. She didn’t know what provoked him.

The suspect, who was standing nearby, was identified by the alleged victim. As deputies approached, he went inside of an RV but was ordered back out and taken into custody.

Deputies were told the suspect became mad about the victim leaving and started acting out. First, he threw something at her face, she said, before he approached her and punched her in the face. She said she went unconscious from the punch. Blood was pouring from her nose and mouth. The woman had just found out she was pregnant on Jan. 30, the affidavit added. She was transported to a hospital for further care.

Investigators reported the suspect would not speak to them when interviewed, but made comments stating he knew his sister was pregnant.

Jonathan Edward Rowland, 26, of Bono, faces the charge of Third-Degree Domestic Battery Involving a Pregnant Woman, a Class B felony. Jail records also show a parole hold on Rowland.

While in court for his bond hearing, Rowland made the claim he had not been in trouble in several years. However, Judge David Boling noted prior battery cases from as recently as 2019. Bail was set at $75,000 cash or surety with a no-contact order in place.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
