Jonesboro Holiday Happenings Welcome the 2024 Holiday Season

JONESBORO, Ark. — As the holiday season is upon us, Jonesboro offers many holiday happenings to transform even the biggest grinch into having holiday heart. With a host of entities collaborating and sponsoring events, the city has a variety of family-friendly festivities to welcome the holiday season.

Christmas at the Park officially opens at 5:30pm this evening, November 27, with an opening night opportunity to see special guests Howl and Scarlett of Arkansas State University. The Christmas at the Park 2024 Schedule runs from November 27 through December 23, with special events and opportunities throughout the season, including a “Pay What You Can Night” on Wednesday, December 4, thanks to a plethora of areawide sponsors. The annual Jonesboro Christmas Parade scheduled for 7pm on Friday, December 6 has its own new brand as a community-led event, including its own logo. The beloved community tradition will take place downtown on Union St., between Burke Ave. & Oak St., with a “Movies on Union” theme. You won’t want to miss out on the newest parade featuring over 100 parade participants, a designated snack zone, the RightFiber performance zone and a designated handicapped parking area. Downtown Jonesboro JoyFest begins at 3pm on Saturday, December 7 at Union Park in Downtown Jonesboro. The Hallmark Christmas-like event will include the annual lighting of the RightFiber 64 ft. Christmas tree, live music on the Hytrol Stage including performances by Cory Jackson, The Foundation of the Arts, The Link Theatre, Chieftain Lane Revival and Turnips Greens, a kids’ zone sponsored by CME Inc., over 50 local vendors in Barton’s Village, and more- at no cost to attendees. Low-cost rides include a Ferris wheel, teacups, miniature train, ice rink, and new this year- a carousel. Winter Wonderland and The First Community Bank Wonderland Rink by the City of Jonesboro’s Parks and Recreation Department will open on December 6, running through December 21 at 215 W. Monroe Ave., with Skating Rink and Party rentals available through January 1. With free admission to Winter Wonderland, activities offered such as the Ferris wheel, ice-skating, and train rides are minimal, costing between $2-$5/per person. The Foundation of Arts annual production of The Nutcracker Ballet at the downtown Forum Theater has performances scheduled for December 12-17. The beloved traditional ballet takes the audience on an unforgettable journey with Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and of course, the Nutcracker.
