Man Accused of Aggravated Assault, Animal Cruelty in Greene County

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A man is accused of aiming a gun at three people and firing gunshots at the ground, one of which struck a dog, in Greene County.

The probable cause affidavit says on Nov. 24, Greene County deputies responded to an address about someone shooting a dog. Deputies met with two juveniles and an adult who reported that the defendant pointed a gun toward them and ordered them to get on the ground. The defendant then allegedly fired off several shots toward the ground, one of which hit a dog. The dog had a bullet wound to the back leg, deputies reported.

The alleged victims stated the defendant was screaming and cussing at them, and they were in fear for their lives.

The defendant was taken into custody and questioned. The affidavit states that he made incriminating statements to the detective.

Cameron Gay, 28, was arrested on charges including three counts of aggravated assault, a Class D felony; aggravated cruelty to a dog, cat, or equine, a Class D felony; and endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Judge Dan Stidham set bond at $50,000 cash-only with a no-contact order covering all alleged victims and witnesses. A GPS ankle monitor requirement was also set for Gay.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
