Memphis Suspect Arrested for Large Theft at Vision Center in Paragould

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A suspect from Memphis was arrested recently for allegedly stealing over $5,000 worth of eyeglasses frames from a vision center in Paragould.

The probable cause affidavit, released on October 8, states that on Sept. 3, the defendant and a co-defendant came to Walmart, 2802 W. Kingshighway, visited the Vision Center, and tried on multiple pairs of glasses.

Surveillance footage showed the suspects concealing multiple eyeglasses frames, the affidavit says. The defendants were seen exiting the store with over $5,000 worth of frames, having never made a purchase.

Authorities learned the defendants were wanted in connection to similar eyeglasses thefts at other jurisdictions in Arkansas and Tennessee.

Camille Martin, 40, is facing charges including breaking or entering, a Class D felony, and theft of property over $5,000 but less than $25,000, a Class C felony. She was being held in the Greene County Detention Center as of this report.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  1. I read this earlier at another ‘news’ site, the fact that the malefactor was from Memphis wasn’t mentioned. Criminals coming from Memphis to NEA – not just Jonesboro and Paragould – continues to increase. I hope our law enforcement and justice systems will continue to hold them accountable – it isn’t going go get better on its own.
