JONESBORO, Ark. — Two cases involving allegations of fentanyl trafficking at the Gladiolus Estates apartments went before the judge on Friday.
Jamien Daniel Thompson, 44, of Jonesboro, had a $500,000 cash or surety bond set by Judge David Boling on Friday. He is being held on charges including trafficking of fentanyl; possession of meth or cocaine with intent to deliver, greater than 2 grams but less than 10; possession of a schedule VI substance with purpose to deliver; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The probable cause affidavit says that on August 6, Drug Task Force (DTF) agents and Street Crimes Unit (SCU) investigators executed a search warrant at an apartment on Gladiolus Drive. Agents located four plastic baggies containing marijuana and two digital scales in the kitchen. In the living room, a hairbrush with a hidden compartment was found that contained two baggies of drugs. One contained 8.2 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl. The other contained 5.5 grams of cocaine which also field-tested positive.
In a separate case, DTF agents arrested George Lovelt Thomas, 22, of Jonesboro on charges including possession of fentanyl with purpose to deliver and use of a communication device. Judge Boling set his bond at $500,000 cash or surety, as well.
The probable cause affidavit says that during August 2024, agents met with a confidential source that said she could purchase fentanyl from an address on Gladiolus Drive. A source met with SCU and DTF agents and was given DTF buy money to make the drug purchase. The individual was also given a covert recording device.
The source met with Thomas in front of the apartments. The affidavit alleges that Thomas asked how many blue M30 pills they were wanting. The source used the DTF money to buy six of the pills. During the encounter, Thomas is accused of using his cell phone to communicate with a known drug trafficker about the person buying the pills. The drugs were turned over to agents.
Judge Tommy Fowler signed a warrant for investigators to search Thomas’s apartment. Inside, they found three bags containing marijuana, digital scales, and a 9mm Sig Sauer P365 pistol.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
