HOXIE, Ark. – Authorities arrested a man for DWI after a traffic stop recently in Hoxie, a press release said. Below is the full release:

On April 21st at roughly 9:45 pm, a Hoxie officer was traveling north on Texas St. While driving behind a dark colored SUV, the officer observed the vehicle accelerate and decelerate numerous times while swerving inside its lane of travel. At one point the vehicle swerved towards the fog line and up onto the curb.

The officer then activated his emergency and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for the manner of driving. Upon the approach of the vehicle the officer made contact with a white male drive who later identified as Jeffery Ball Jr. When the officer introduced himself and the reason for the stop he noticed a heavy odor of intoxicants coming from the drivers area, blood shot/glassy eyes. When asked how much he had to drink with slurred speech Ball stated “quite a bit”. Ball was asked to exit the vehicle where he displayed a lack of balance and using the door for support.

Once at the front of the patrol car Ball agreed to the officers request to conduct SFSTs. Once the testing was completed ball was placed in wrist restraints (checked for fit and double locked) and placed in the rear of the patrol car. A duty hook was requested and custodial inventory of the vehicle was conducted before Ball transported to Lawrence County Detention Center where he then blew a BAC of .195 which is over twice the legal limit. Ball was then booked for DWI.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
