BROOKLAND, Ark. – Several arrests were made last month in Brookland and it all began with a traffic stop.
According to the probable cause affidavits, on April 11, 2024, Officer Joshua Whitley conducted a traffic stop on US 49 North in the Brookland city limits. Officers made contact with the driver, Frankie Thorn, learning he had a suspended license and was on felony probation. Officers also spoke with two passengers, Casey Seymore and Sarah Crutchfield. The affidavit says that Crutchfield admitted there was a pipe in the vehicle.
Police deployed their K9 partner, “Bolo,” who gave a positive indication of the presence of illegal substances in the vehicle. During a search, police found a blue container where Crutchfield had been sitting. Inside, a plastic bag containing suspected crystal meth. Officers also reported a glass pipe with white residue inside.

After the search, officers released the subjects from the scene pending further investigation. On April 24, 2024, Judge David Boling signed an arrest warrant for Crutchfield, who resides in the Brookland city limits.
On April 26, 2024, officers from the Brookland Police Department, including K9 Officer Joshua Whitley, Officer Kade Carder, and Officer Eric Stephens, executed an arrest warrant for Sarah Crutchfield Edwards at a residence on Stevens Street in Brookland. During the operation, officers encountered additional individuals at the scene, including Briana Crutchfield and Jeremy Johnson. Briana Crutchfield had an outstanding warrant from the District Court of Craighead County related to charges in Brookland.
Officers obtained consent to search the residence and discovered items commonly associated with narcotics distribution, such as plastic bags, digital scales, and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, they found approximately 4 grams of suspected marijuana and approximately 20.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
Following questioning, Sarah Crutchfield Edwards, Briana Crutchfield, and Jeremy Johnson were arrested on various narcotics-related charges. Jeremy Johnson was found in possession of $1,450 in cash, which was seized by officers. On April 28, 2024, Detective Dustin Norwood interviewed the three individuals at the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office.

During interviews, Sarah Crutchfield Edwards admitted to asking her daughter, Briana Crutchfield, to obtain methamphetamine for her. Briana confirmed her mother’s statement and revealed that she enlisted Jeremy Johnson’s help to procure the drugs, which they delivered to Sarah’s address in Brookland. Jeremy Johnson admitted to knowledge of narcotics being present but denied delivering any drugs, although he acknowledged flushing a user amount of methamphetamine down the toilet upon law enforcement’s arrival.
On May 1, 2024, Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge the three individuals. Sarah Crutchfield Edwards faces multiple charges, including possession of controlled substances and felony possession of drug paraphernalia. Briana Crutchfield and Jeremy Johnson also face charges related to possession and distribution of methamphetamine. Due to his extensive criminal history and current offenses, Jeremy Johnson received a $250,000 bond.
The “Distribution Near Certain Facilities-Enhanced Penalties” charge was added due to the proximity of the residence to a church. The investigation is ongoing, and no further information has been released by authorities at this time.
