JONESBORO, Ark. — A man was sentenced to 40 years in prison this week in Jonesboro for two counts of sexual assault against a child.
Lazarus Robinson McMiller, 41, was sentenced to forty years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections by Second Judicial Circuit Judge Scott Ellington for two counts of Sexual Assault Second Degree. Charlene Davidson, Managing Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, handled the prosecution.
The case unfolded in January 2023 when a nine-year-old victim disclosed to a teacher that McMiller had sexually assaulted her. The Brookland Police Department was notified and assisted in transporting the victim to the Child Advocacy Center in Jonesboro for an interview.
After a thorough investigation, McMiller was arrested and charged.

Prosecuting Attorney Sonia Hagood commented, “These cases are challenging, and sparing the victim from the trauma of reliving the assault is paramount. We appreciate the collaboration with our law enforcement partners and the dedicated staff at the Child Advocacy Center.”
Managing Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Charlene Davidson stated, “This conviction and sentence were made possible through joint efforts. We commend the victim for her bravery and appreciate the diligent work of the Brookland Police Department, as well as Craighead County Victim/Witness Advocate Sarah Burnett for her support of Craighead County victims.”
