Residential Burglary and Theft at Deceased Man’s Home Sparks Investigation in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – A residential burglary and theft targeted the home of a deceased man, leaving the family looking for property and police looking for suspects in Jonesboro.

It happened sometime between 12:00 PM on January 11 and 10:45 AM on January 12 at the 500-block of West Huntington Avenue in Jonesboro. A suspect or suspects forced entry into a residence at the address and took several items, the police report released by the Jonesboro Police Department says.

Officers were dispatched to a breaking and entering in progress. The caller believed at the time that someone might be in a shed at the residence. Police arrived and cleared the shed, confirming no suspects were inside. But it did appear like someone may have been, as items were scattered around.

Officers observed the back door of the house open. The residence was also in disarray when officers cleared it.

The residence belonged to the victim’s father-in-law, who passed away in January, 2023. The report said the home has been vacant since, with the family slowly moving property out.

Items stolen included an 85-inch television, three large ceramic heaters, a lawn mower, air compressor, chain saw, and weed eater.

The address was added to the extra patrol watch list but police need more details to advance the investigation. If you have any information that could help police locate the suspects or solve the case, contact JPD here.
