JONESBORO, Ark. – A recent residential burglary in Jonesboro led to the theft of multiple firearms from a residence.
The incident occurred between 12:50 PM and 1:05 PM on Dec. 15 at the 1100-block of West Matthews Avenue. According to the incident report, law enforcement responded to a reported burglary in progress. The resident informed the police that the suspects were two black males dressed in all black attire and wearing black ski masks. The homeowner’s son, age 14, was home at the time of the incident and estimated the suspects’ ages to be approximately 16 and 20, respectively.
During the burglary, the suspects managed to steal five handguns and a rifle. However, the homeowner’s son confronted one of the suspects, retrieving the rifle before the suspects fled the scene. The duo made their getaway eastbound on West Matthews Avenue, utilizing bicycles.
The homeowner disclosed to the authorities that the front door had been left unlocked at the time of the incident, which was how the suspects gained entry.
Law enforcement conducted fingerprint dusting for evidence but were unable to recover any usable prints.
The stolen guns included a Ruger Aanskon, a Ruger 50th anniversary handgun, a Thompson Center handgun with scope, a 5A 1911 .45, and a Ruger LCP .389.
