Two Students From Greene County Tech High School Die in Tragic Crash

PARAGOULD, Ark. – Two people tragically died and a third was airlifted after a serious crash Friday in Greene County.

Greene County Tech (GCT) High School confirmed the deaths of Caleb Sparks, a 12th-grade student, and Braiden Sessums, an 11th-grade student, in a social media post on Saturday. In response to the tragic loss, GCT High School announced additional counseling support would be available on Monday for students affected by the loss of their peers.

Emergency Services in Paragould responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a serious collision at the junction of Hwy 351 and County Road 721 around 8:23 AM on Dec. 15, according to Greene County Sheriff Brad Snyder. Reports indicated one vehicle had overturned and caught fire. Upon the arrival of emergency responders, one driver was discovered with severe injuries, while the second vehicle involved was ablaze, preventing immediate access for the arriving team.

Authorities confirmed two fatalities resulting from the crash. Additionally, one individual was transported via air ambulance to a Memphis hospital for urgent medical care. Their name has not been released.

The investigation is being conducted by the Arkansas State Police.
