Report: Suspect Pulls Handgun, Shoots at Victim

JONESBORO, Ark. – An alarming report this week in Jonesboro detailed an angry suspect pulling a handgun on a victim and shooting at him.

It happened between 6:20 and 6:30 PM on December 4 near the intersection of Belt and Melrose streets. A 51-year-old man reported the incident to police.

The report says that a suspect driving a gray 2017 Nissan Sentra pulled a handgun on the victim and shot at him. A single spent 9mm shell casing was located at the scene.

NEA Report asked JPD’s PIO Sally Smith for more information on what happened. She said the victim stated he was walking back to his residence when a light colored passenger car pulled up to him, an occupant asked a question, and then an occupant pulled out a gun and fired a shot at him. The alleged victim and the suspect did not appear to have a prior relationship, the report shows.

Fortunately, no injuries resulted from the incident.

No arrests have been made as of this update.

However, it is still under investigation as a possible felony incident of aggravated assault.
