Update: Suspect Identified, Arrested in Early Monday Jonesboro Shooting

JONESBORO, Ark. – A person was shot early Monday in Jonesboro and at around 9 AM, JPD made an arrest in the case, the department updated.

In the early hours of October 16, a 22 year-old male arrived at a local hospital with an apparent gunshot wound, prompting authorities to launch an investigation into the incident, an update to social media said. The shooting was believed to have occurred between 2:30 AM and 2:40 AM in the 1900 block of West Matthew’s in Jonesboro.

Upon receiving the report of the gunshot wound, the Jonesboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. As part of their ongoing investigation, the police announced they were actively searching for a person of interest believed to be connected to the shooting.

At 9 AM, JPD made an arrest in the case, Sally Smith told NEA Report. As of 10:30 AM, detectives were still at the search warrant location.

Jaquan Eldridge Dent, 21, of Jonesboro, was arrested at his home around 9:05 AM.
