JONESBORO, Ark. – A Jonesboro man was scammed out of thousands after being contacted about a supposed grant, a report with JPD said recently.
The report filed this week said the incident happened between July 8 and July 10. Although many details are masked from public view, the victim said he was contacted through Facebook about a grant opportunity. All that was required was for the victim to pay his part. When he did so, the suspect cut off all contact with him.
The victim was scammed out of $5,400, according to the report.
Felony theft greater than $5,000 but less than $25,000 is a Class C Felony punishable by 3-10 years in prison or probation and/or up to $10,000 in fines.

Wow, You he would of contacted someone. Now he’s out a big chunk of money. These scammers do this to innocent people.
