Juvenile suspects arrested, stolen vehicle recovered in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – Police have arrested two suspects and recovered a stolen vehicle this week in Jonesboro in a case that may have been connected to at least one other theft.

The vehicle theft was first reported around 8:47 AM Thursday morning, March 23, to the Jonesboro Police Department, the incident report says. Overnight, the victim was at work at St. Bernards on East Jackson. Sometime during that period, her vehicle was stolen. It was described as a black Dodge Caravan.

Between 2 AM and 2:32 AM on Friday near the intersection of South Culberhouse and W. Cherry, JPD Officer Will Tate was patrolling what the report described as a high crime area when he noticed a black van in a parking lot with front end damage matching the description of the stolen vehicle.

The officer’s observant eye led him to make contact with and arrest two suspects: a male, 15, and a female, 15. Charges included felony theft by receiving, interference with a law enforcement officer (threatening physical force) and obstructing governmental operations. Although the reports were mostly masked, it did appear both suspects were referred to the juvenile department.

Officers listed related reports as including an incident reported shortly before 4 AM on March 23 at the same location, St. Bernards, where two unknown suspects broken into a victim’s car and stole his Glock 19.
