
JONESBORO, Ark. – A teen was shot in the chest early Thursday in Jonesboro and authorities are working to learn more.
It happened sometime after 3 AM, the report released Thursday afternoon by the Jonesboro Police Department said. Police responded at 3:11 AM to 3700-Kristi Lake Drive in reference to shots fired. Although most details are masked, the report states that the victim, 17, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. The round was fired from outside of the apartment, police said.
Several children including two two-year-old girls were present when the incident happened.
The victim was transported to a local hospital. As of late Thursday afternoon, he was out of surgery and in stable condition, Public Information Officer Sally Smith said.
The report lists a suspect, 17, but his identity is masked. Police had no suspect information to release to the public Thursday afternoon.
The suspect faces felony first degree battery and terroristic act charges. More charges could be added.
