Jonesboro, Ark. – A 57-year old man who was already a registered sex offender is facing more charges, the Jonesboro Police Department said in a release posted to social media.
Detectives with JPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children Division, with the help of the SWAT team, arrested David Odom, 57, on Sunday, November 6.
On September 20, Odom made contact with what he believed to be a fifteen-year-old girl through social media messaging, police said. Odom made the conversation go sexual and continued texting the juvenile female, the release alleges.
On Sunday, Odom drove over two hours from Trenton, Tennessee, to meet the girl at a Jonesboro hotel room. He was taken into custody shortly after renting the room.
Odom is a registered sex offender. He was charged with Internet Stalking of a Child. A bond requirement for his release was set at $1,000,000.
