Old Perkins building to be torn down; New unnamed restaurant teased

JONESBORO, Ark. – A local building with years of restaurant history will soon be leaving the Caraway Road.

But something bigger and better is coming in it’s place, a local developer says.

“When you drive by this week, say goodbye to the old Perkins Restaurant & Bakery building on Caraway Road. It will be torn down 🚧 to make way for an awesome new building.” Haag-Brown Commercial Real Estate posted Monday morning.

Clue: The announcement will be a restaurant our social media audience, & friends & family has requested for years. 🤗

Haag Brown Principle Josh Brown told NEA Report the demolition should begin within the next several weeks – or sooner.

The building was originally home to the Perkins Restaurant & Bakery, a restaurant chain famous for breakfast founded in 1958. The chain left Jonesboro years ago, leaving the vacant green-trimmed building in its place. Other restaurants floundered in the location, never finding a formula for success.

While Caraway Road once bustled with more commercial activity than any other roadway in town, the demolition of the Indian Mall took much of the attention away from the area. However, recent developments on Caraway including Ross Dress for Less, Texas Roadhouse, and other new businesses have brought new life back to the area.

What do you think will be built in place of the old Perkins building?
