So why would the general public care? Well, for starters, this shows officers that the public is supportive of their work and a morale boost goes a long way for officers who have, according to the police chief, needed more officers for some time.
But beyond that, it would also save Jonesboro tax payers a lot of money. The vehicle is a brand new Chevy Tahoe PPV, a specialized police vehicle made by GM which starts at over $42,000. It has a 5.3L V8 engine, features like Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning, 2WD, and an auxiliary battery for powering police equipment. But that doesn’t even include the third-party upgrades the vehicle will come with. A police pursuit package and a K9 package will both make the value over $50,000 when completed.
