Craighead trailer thieves being investigated

JONESBORO, Ark. – A number of thefts were reported to the Craighead County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday and although we don’t know if they’re connected, they have some similarities.

First, Deputy Jerry Roth was dispatched to the 5600-block of Highway 1 South where two trailers had been reported stolen. One was a black 16-foot utility trailer and another was a 20-foot newly painted bright red car hauler. The owner said they were stolen sometime between July 20 (11 AM) and July 24 (6:30 PM). There were no signs of locks being cut off at the scene. The value of the theft makes the potential charge a felony for those responsible.

Another trailer theft report was taken by Deputy Mike Lawrence. At 9:21 AM on Thursday, he was dispatched to the 300-block of County Road 765 where a trailer full of brand new construction materials had been stolen. The black PJ Trailers dump trailer was taken sometime between 7 PM July 24 and 7 AM July 25. It was loaded with thousands of dollars of construction materials, heat pumps, and copper wire – a favorite for junkie thieves. The value of the stolen goods also makes this a felony crime.

If you have any information about either of these thefts, please do not hesitate to contact the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office. Also, you can anonymously report crime with Crimestoppers at 870-935-STOP. Your tips, either way, may result in a cash reward.
