JONESBORO, Ark. – A suspected marijuana dealer who police announced also had his medical marijuana card was arrested on Monday in Jonesboro.

The suspect, who has not been named by police, had 43 pounds of cannabis on him. The legal limit for cardholders is 2.5 ounces.

Agents with the Second Judicial Drug Task Force seized the large amount of marijuana from a home on Thomas Green Rd, along with the owner’s Medical Marijuana card.

Agents received a tip about the north Jonesboro residence in reference to information that had been received about possible drugs being sold from the residence.

Agents made contact with the owners of the residence and found two children under the age of 3 in the home.

DTF Agents seized 43.2 pounds of marijuana, scales and other paraphernalia, $28,880 in cash, and the homeowner’s Medical Marijuana card.

Although the arrest appears to be within the letter of the law, it didn’t stop many from making negative comments on JPD’s Facebook page about the bust.

“So your trying to make a connection between his card and being a drug dealer?” wrote Cricket Ellis on a comment with 45 likes as of this article. “You as protectors of the law shouldn’t be trying to make a connection in your comments one way or the other. The man was a drug dealer who happened to have a medical marijuana card. They are not connected. You can only buy 2.5 oz. every two weeks. This has NOTHING to do with medical marijuana, nothing.”
