Shots reported Friday night in downtown area

JONESBORO, Ark. – Five to seven gunshots were reported downtown by a citizen and a police presence is active in the area.

There was some shots heard downtown, a desk sergeant with JPD confirmed to NEA Report. No active scene was apparent as of 11 PM.

A citizen on the Ring Neighbors app reported five to seven gunshots in a row around the library/downtown area.

Video sent to NEA Report shows a number of police cars on Main Street downtown. However, this was due to an unrelated medical incident not criminal in nature, the desk sergeant said.

The video below was submitted to NEA Report via a viewer. In the video, toward the end, you can hear several gunshots. This was sometime after 10 PM but before 10:40 PM.

Update: Another round of gunfire was reported at 11:38 PM off of Parkview.

JPD PIO Sally Smith sent an update to NEA Report, saying the earlier shots were on Culberhouse, but officers did not find any evidence. This second round is in the same vicinity and officers have just arrived to search the area.
