An arrest has been made in the shooting that injured a Jonesboro man back in January.
U.S. Marshals apprehended Trevon Stevenson early this morning in Helena/West Helena, without incident. He has been transported to the Craighead County Detention Center and will have his Probable Cause Hearing tomorrow.
JPD said more arrests are pending.
At about 1:45 am on January 25, officers heard shots fired north of Johnson Avenue close to Arkansas State University. Almost simultaneously, an officer was flagged down by a person who had been shot near the intersection of Caraway Rd. and Johnson Avenue.
The victim, Jeremy Darr, 44, of Jonesboro, was driving a vehicle that the contacting officer immediately recognized had been damaged by gunshots. While speaking with Darr, it was discovered that he had been shot in the lower back. Darr told officers that he was being chased by some individuals who had been shooting at him and he thought they were in the area of Hilltop when he was struck. Darr stated that the chase stemmed from a robbery attempt at a home in the 1200 block of Magnolia.
About this same time, a call was received about an aggravated robbery in the 1200 block of Magnolia Rd. That victim reported that three suspects entered the home, where several people where inside, including Darr. In an attempt to escape the robbery, Darr climbed out of a window and found the suspects had left their car blocking others in the driveway, so he left in their vehicle. The robbery suspects then stole another vehicle from the residence in order to chase after Darr. It was during the chase that the shots were fired and Darr was struck. While the suspect vehicle has been impounded, the stolen vehicle, a silver Mitsubishi Gallant, has not been recovered.
A bench warrant for Aggravated Robbery and Battery in the first Degree was issued for Travon Stevenson, 21, of Jonesboro. He was announced as apprehended Feb. 4, 2019.
The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
