$500 offered by cyclists to help ID hit-and-run suspect

JONESBORO, Ark. – After a woman nearly ran a Jonesboro cyclist over while passing him, a local group of cyclists gathered together to offer a reward to learn who she is.

On behalf of all people on bicycles in the Jonesboro area, the Northeast Arkansas Bicycle Coalition is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the positive identification of the vehicle and driver involved in a hit and run crash with a local bike rider this past weekend, and the charging of the driver for crashing into the rider.

The video appears to show a clear violation of the state of Arkansas’ safe bicycle passing law (27-51-311, ”Overtaking a Bicycle”). In addition, in crossing the double yellow center line, the suspect driver also threatened an oncoming driver who has come forth to express their concern about the incident.

Video tape of the incident on Lawson Road can be viewed below.

Individuals with information are asked to contact the NEABC direct at neabikecoalition@gmail.com or direct message on their page.
