Man arrested for traveling to Jonesboro to meet juvenile at hotel

JONESBORO, Ark. – Investigators with the ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) Division of the Jonesboro Police Department, SCU (Street Crimes Unit), and Investigators with the Trumann Police Department arrested Stephen Nix, a 25 year old male of Delaplaine, AR.

The ICAC Division was contacted by Investigator Karen Rinehart of Trumann Police Department about a subject that contacted what he believed to a 15 year old female using social media. ICAC investigators began using the social media account to engage in a conversation with Nix and over the course of the next two days, Nix sent what he believed was a 15 year old female numerous nude videos and pictures of himself using the social media account. Nix then began to make multiple request to meet the 15 year old and was clear that he wished to have a sexual encounter.

Investigators, posing as the 15 year old female, agreed to meet with Nix at a Hotel in Jonesboro. Nix drove approximately one hour to come to Jonesboro and was arrested by Officers with ICAC, SCU, and Trumann PD.

Stephen Nix is charged with four crimes: Internet Stalking of a Child (Class Y Felony), Computer Child Pornography (Class B Felony), Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, and Misdemeanor Resisting Arrest.

Nix is being held at the Craighead County Jail and will have a Probabale Cause Hearing Monday, February 26th, 2018.
