State police investigate possible home invasion; one dead

RECTOR, Ark. – The Arkansas State Police has been requested by the Rector Police Department to lead in the investigation of a shooting death that occurred yesterday evening (February 22, 2018). Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division have been assigned to the case.

Rector Police Officers responded at approximately 8:10pm to a residence on South LaSalle Street in the city of Rector. Inside the residence, police found the body of Jeffery L. Baker, 40.

According to initial statements at the scene, Baker forcefully entered the home, and the homeowner shot Baker inside the residence.

Baker was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
