Jonesboro Police Investigate Sunday Call for Shots Fired

JONESBORO, Ark. – Police in Jonesboro are working to determine if two calls involving gunshots from late Sunday are connected.

Jonesboro Police Department received a call of shots fired in the 200 Block of Spruce ST on Sunday, January 21, 2018. At approximately 8:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to the call on Spruce ST. Upon their arrival, they were met by several subjects in the street who were pointing officers to a home. Witnesses claimed to have heard two gun shots come from inside the home.

Officers contacted the resident, who was not shot but had suffered minor injury from being in a physical altercation. Officers saw evidence of a struggle in the home and evidence of illegal drug activity. Investigators were called to the scene which led to the collection of several pieces of evidence including illegal drugs, shell casings and handgun magazines.An arrest was made for Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

A short time later, officers received a call from St. Bernard’s Medical Center Emergency Room that a subject had come the facility in need of medical care that had suffered a non life-threatening gun shot wound.

Investigators are working to determine if the two calls are related.
