JONESBORO, Ark. – Nice-Pak and Walmart are celebrating the addition of 30 new jobs at an “Investment in American Jobs” event at Nice-Pak’s manufacturing facility today, Sept. 6, in Jonesboro, a release said.As part of Walmart’s commitment to purchase an additional $250 billion in products supporting American jobs by 2023, the retailer selected Nice-Pak to showcase the manufacturing facility in Jonesboro, where the company recently added 30 new manufacturing jobs to support increased production for Walmart products, a release said.
Based on data from Boston Consulting Group, it’s estimated that 1 million new U.S. jobs will be created through Walmart’s initiative, including direct manufacturing job growth of approximately 250,000, and indirect job growth of approximately 750,000 in the support and service sectors.
“Our customers have told us that second to price, where products are made influences their purchase decisions,” said Cindi Marsiglio, vice president, U.S. manufacturing, Walmart. “We are focused on buying great quality products that create jobs in communities across the U.S. It makes sense for Walmart’s customers, our communities and our business.”
The events today include a formal presentation followed by a tour of the manufacturing facility. Event attendance is expected to reach around 300 and includes Governor Asa Hutchinson and Mayor Harold Perrin along with other local and state dignitaries, Walmart associates, Nice-Pak associates and their families, local business leaders and media.
“We look forward to welcoming Walmart, Governor Hutchinson, Mayor Perrin and the local community to our facility to learn more about our partnership with Walmart and our commitment to American made products and jobs,” said Robert Julius, CEO, Nice-Pak. “As a long-term supplier of Walmart, we appreciate the opportunity to come together and recognize the significance of this initiative.”
“I’m thrilled to attend an event that supports a commitment to our state economy. Nice-Pak’s Jonesboro facility benefits Arkansas families as well as families around the country,” remarked Governor Asa Hutchinson.
Hutchinson, Perrin, and a number of others were on hand for a special event Wednesday at Nice-Pak.
