Man killed in Cross County traffic accident

CROSS COUNTY, Ark. – While stopped on the road for maintenance to a semi-truck, a man was killed when a pickup truck slammed into his car Wednesday in Cross County.

Andrew J. Hardesty, 49, of Bella Vista, Ark. was killed on State Highway 1 near County Road 212 in Cross County. The accident happened at 10:32 a.m. Wednesday, the Arkansas State Police crash report said. Hardesty’s 2012 Nissan Altima was stopped in the southbound lane behind a 2007 Peterbuilt TTL semi-truck for maintenance issues. 

This was when a 2015 GMC Sierra pickup, driven by Chancellon D. McMillion, 24, of Trumann, came upon the stopped vehicles and collided with the Altima. Hardesty’s car collided with the semi-truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the deputy coroner.

The report said McMillion was injured and taken to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis.

Conditions were listed as clear and dry at the time of the accident.
