WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – The mayor in Walnut Ridge is issuing an urgent update to those who were affected by the historic flood of 2011 – get ready to move.
Black River is forecasted to crest Friday, May 5 (as of 10 a.m. Monday). The crest will be up between one and two feet higher than 2011’s historic levels, Mayor Charles Snapp warned Walnut Ridge and nearby residents. It is expected to cross Highway 67 between Walnut Ridge and Pocahontas by the end of Tuesday.
“Make plans to evacuate the areas impacted in 2011, or if it was anywhere close,” Snapp said. “This is a serious issue and we’re dealing with more water possibilities than ever before.”
