JONESBORO, Ark. – A dispute between a mother and her son ended with the son arrested for assault, an incident report detailed.

It was reported just after 8 p.m. Monday night on Gilbert Street in Jonesboro. Jonesboro police arrived and spoke with the mother who said the boy, 13, was mad because he believed his mother was “telling his business to everyone.” His mother approached him to whip him and the report says he picked up a basketball, threw it at her head “very hard,” and it struck her on the right side of the head.

She said she became very dizzy and “fell out.”

The officers noticed a red mark on her right ear from where the basketball allegedly struck her.

When police spoke to the child, he corroborated the entire story, except he said he didn’t mean to hit his mother with the ball he tossed in her direction, according to the report.

He was taken to the Craighead County Juvenile Detention Center on a misdemeanor charge of assaulting a family or household member.
