Man arrested for funeral disturbance

JONESBORO, Ark. – A man was arrested Wednesday in Jonesboro for causing a disturbance at a funeral home but before the proceedings had concluded, the man bonded out and came back to cause even more trouble.

It began around 10:20 a.m. in the incident report Wednesday. Jonesboro Police Department was dispatched to Woodard Funeral Home, 216 East Street, in reference to a man causing problems at the funeral home.

The suspect, Marcus Jay Evans, 27, of Jonesboro, was reportedly upset about his mother getting married Wednesday to a man he did not like. With the family also having a funeral that morning, Evans apparently threw a temper tantrum, making threats to the family that the wedding would not happen. When Officer Joshua Beasley arrived, he reported Evans being very aggravated and talking nonstop about the wedding.

“He started yelling at the family, standing at the front door of the funeral home,” Beasley reported. “Evans then yelled, ‘Fu*k y’all. What the fu*k are yall looking at?'”

Those words got Evans arrested and taken to Craighead County Detention Center with a citation for disorderly conduct.

The incident report then says Evans immediately bonded out, went back to the funeral home, and continued. The funeral home called the officer back and said he was there causing trouble again. Other officers were radioed but Evans was gone by the time they arrived.
