Over $2,000 stolen from one vehicle in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – As vehicle break-ins continue, one man was a victim in a major way, with thousands of dollars, credit cards and even a gun being stolen from his vehicle.

The crime happened overnight Tuesday/Wednesday morning at the 6200-block of Alan Drive in Jonesboro. Officer John Shipman met with the victim at his home, who had left checkbooks, credit cards, a Springfield XD 40, and an estimated $2,300 in the vehicle over night.

Criminals used some type of pry to open the door by pressing an unlock button through the crack. The suspect, if captured, would face at least four felonies for the break-in (the act, a firearm, the money and credit cards). 

Vehicle break-ins were also reported at the following locations overnight:

  • 1300-block of Elkhorn Lane
  • 600-block of Melrose (apartments)
  • 500-block of North Caraway Road (apartments)
  • 600-block of North Caraway Road (apartments)
  • 6200-block of Merrell Drive
  • 1300-block of Oak Meadow Road
